How to Be Happier in Life

We all want to be happy, to have that feeling of indescribable joy.  But how and where can we find it?  Sometime it just seems so elusive doesn’t it?

Happiness seems to be a fleeting thing to some people, while others seem to have a good grasp on how to attain it and hold on to it.  Happiness means different things to different people, but there are similarities.

Consider this, maybe the surest way to find happiness and joy for yourself is to focus your energy and make someone else happy.  As I have found, when I put all my effort into looking for happiness, it eludes me because I get caught up in the search itself.  However, when I make a conscious effort to bring happiness to someone else then I find that the happiness and joy I was so desperately looking for finds me. How to be happier

So what does it take for us to be happy?

Most people who are truly happy have a definite sense of purpose in their lives.  For many, faith in God brings them happiness, hope for the future and a purpose driven life.
I have come to realize that we are born into this world with nothing, no possessions.  And when we depart this world, we leave with nothing, save a nice last outfit.  🙂  The only thing that really matters is what we do in between.  In my opinion, one of the best things we can do is give of ourselves.  This is how we find the true purpose of our lives.  This is how to attain happiness and joy in the face of sadness and despair.  We experience joy when we make an effort to bring it to others.

Happy people generally are giving people, giving truly does bring the giver joy, if it’s done with a real attitude of giving for the sake of giving.

Happy people are also thankful for the many things they have and for the people and relationships in their lives.  Nurture your special relationships with family and friends and think about dumping negative relationships that do nothing except bring you down.

Optimism doesn’t come naturally to some people, but the happiest people are optimists, always looking on the lighter and brighter side of life.  Consciously look for the bright side in every situation throughout the day.  Instead of instantly thinking something will not work, think about how it could work.

Be mindful of how blessed you are.  Be thankful of the fantastic relationship you have with your significant other.  Be thankful for everything you have and for everything you know will come to you in the future.

Giving, having a sense of purpose, optimism, and thankfulness will lead to happiness every time.
